Call for papers on the special issue
Modelling and Control of Physical Networks

Paper submission deadline: June 1st 2007

Aims and Scope: The scope of the Special Issue is to collect contributions in the area of modelling, analysis and control of physical networks. The main aim is to bridge the research developed by control community, dealing with networked systems and coordinated control of agents groups, with physical networks research areas as car traffic, internet, irrigation channels, economic networks etc.

The common ground is in modeling appropriately the network and focusing on centralized or distributed control algorithms for the obtained networked system. Thus we welcome submissions including: cooperative controls over networks, control of groups with limited information flow, as for instance multi-agent systems or networks of robots or vehicles, modeling of animal aggregations, air traffic management, control of flows on networks as irrigation channels, telecommunications, data flows, car traffic, social networks, computer networks, supply chains, biological flows and networks.

Also papers mainly focused only on modelling are welcome if they pose the basis for control problems analysis. We expect some control to show up, where the possiblity of control is usually at nodes. For example, in robot groups coordination each node represents an agent deciding its dynamics, while in supply chains, the regulation happens by process scheduling, buffering etc. Moreover, there should be some "physicity" of nodes or arcs. For example, in social networks each node may represent an individual, while in car traffic each arc is a road or a highway.
